Remote Laboratory Manager
Position Overview
Laboratory Express Diagnostics is seeking an experienced Laboratory Manager to join our Management team in a 100% remote capacity. You will lead laboratory operations, inspire teams, ensure regulatory excellence, and drive strategic initiatives that advance our mission of delivering exceptional laboratory services.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations of laboratory departments and ensure efficient workflows
- Supervise, mentor, and develop laboratory staff and team leads
- Ensure compliance with CLIA, CAP, FDA, and state regulatory requirements
- Develop and manage laboratory budgets, forecasting, and financial performance
- Implement quality assurance programs and continuous improvement initiatives
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and operational metrics
- Coordinate with pathologists, medical directors, and clinical leadership
- Lead laboratory accreditation and inspection preparation efforts
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Manage laboratory information systems (LIS) and technology initiatives
- Ensure adequate staffing, training, and professional development
- Handle escalated customer issues and maintain client relationships
- Drive innovation and implementation of new testing methodologies
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science or related field required; Master's preferred
- MLS (ASCP) or MT (AMT) certification required
- 5+ years of clinical laboratory experience with 3+ years in management/supervisory role
- Strong knowledge of CLIA, CAP, and laboratory accreditation standards
- Experience with laboratory operations, quality management, and regulatory compliance
- Proven leadership and staff management abilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities
- Experience with laboratory information systems (LIS)
- Budget management and financial analysis experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, or related field
- Laboratory director or assistant director experience
- Multi-site laboratory management experience
- Lean Six Sigma or similar process improvement certification
- Experience with molecular diagnostics and advanced testing platforms
- Project management certification (PMP)
- Previous remote management experience
